Project 3 was titled “Modern Fairy Tale with a Twist”. My idea stemmed through my love of the princess, Snow White. She was brought up in a kingdom until the Wicked Witch set to kill her with a poisonous apple. She fled to the woods, where she found some friends to help her find her true love. That is the modern fairy tale my idea comes from.
My idea is to place snow white in the college seen. A modern-day prince, doomed by the “frat-life” and can’t seem to escape his fate of a deathly hangover. The prince goes to a party that his fraternity threw with the seven dwarfs. Unlike in Snow White, these dwarfs aren’t here to help him, but they influence him to make bad decisions. The more dwarfs that surround him, the more intoxicated he gets. These dwarfs were sent by the Frat President, seen as the Evil Queen. The dwarfs’ goal is to put him in an everlasting hang over.
Without spoiling the hangover cure, the prince finds his way when he realizes there are more important things than frat parties and partying every day.
It’s easy to see where the inspiration came for the “twist” on the Snow-White fairytale. Being a college student and female in boulder, I’ve seen many frat parties and I’ve experienced all the frat-like scenes. It’s easy to name the 7 dwarfs (or drugs) that play a role in frat parties, and that will be portrayed throughout the story. Lined with humor and rhymes, hopefully the story gets portrayed.
