My song is a composite off all the things I would normally hear throughout a day but with a twist. I wanted to portray a bad day. Starting with the flickering noise at the beginning into deeper and darker noises. Throughout the song you’ll hear a male and female voice saying, “Man, I’ve had a long day”. This means exactly that. A long day – a hard day – a bad day. After the voice, there are moments of peace. This represents the good, even in a bad day. The music gets darkest right before the end where you hear the voice again saying, “man, I’ve had a long day”. The stress release in this case doesn’t come until the end, and even then, we hear criticism from a different voice.
Overall, I feel like this song has represented the semester so far for me. Although there have been many ups, I’ve had many tough days. The deep, anxiety-enduing music represents the scary days and the anxiety driven thoughts. The clicking represents a steady, unsteady, beat throughout my life. While the moments of relief and upbeat tones comes from my times adventuring though the wilderness, laughing with my friends and playing the guitar.
This music was hard for me to make. I didn’t want a meaningless song with a mix of various weird noises that someone had to guess at the purpose. I wanted to create something with feeling, something made from every day noises, that someone could understand. Everyone has experienced a bad day, a bad month, a bad year. But seeing the positive, relief moments are the important parts of the song.
